Niki Mosier spotted something that was previously pointed out to me but I thought then it was a bug. But it is not a bug, I see it myself. Google is meshing the local features in the Google web search results. Basically, you get a local panel, then a section for reviews, then the popular times, then a section for Q&A and then the web results.

Google announced a new augmented reality feature that is now supported in search – trying on make up. Since people really don’t want to try it on in a store, Google Search lets you try it on virtually in the search results.

Google now has all of its holiday decorations live for the 2020 year-end holiday season. We saw the Chanukah decorations go live a week ago because Chanukah already started but now the Christmas and Kwanzaa decorations are live as well.

Yesterday we reported how Google was testing dynamically expandable images below snippets. Now I am seeing reports of Google testing expandable text descriptions in the snippets. Here is a GIF of it in action from Jordan Long on Twitter.

Here is a weird one spotted by Vlad Rappoport and posted on Twitter. He showed how when you place your mouse cursor over a snippet’s title, images can dynamically load beneath that snippet. Here is a GIF of it in action.

Looks like Google is testing yet another layout for the top stories news box in the Google search results. Mateus Nunes from LiveCoins in Brazil sent me a screen shot on Twitter, where you can see this layout has a multiple layouts.

It looks like Google is testing thinner, 85 pixels less wide, knowledge panels in the Google Search results. Jason Barnard said the current/old knowledge panel on desktop search is 455 pixels wide. The new, thinner, version is 370 pixels wide.
