This is interesting….it’s the first time in a UK search I have seen Google testing (I think) AJAX to display more results instead of visitors clicking to the second and third page of Google search results etc – as has been traditional for over ten years. It should be noted my guy was signed into Google Plus when we took the screenshot.
With this new pagination – IS GOOGLE PREPARING TO MAKE IT”S SEARCH ENGINE RESULTS PAGES (SERPS) INFINITE SCROLLING?
It is going to be interesting to see what impact this has on click through rates.

Traditionally of course – you need to click to go to page 2 and 3 etc using the device pictured below – but as you can see these have been removed from the SERPS shown above.

Logical progression of UI for Google. Wouldn’t be surprised to see tests of Infinite Scroll without the click needed.
Yup.
Didn’t everyone freak out about this a year ago only to have it come out that it was an already known Chrome plugin that was doing the infinite scrolling or somesuch?
Hi Rebecca I remember seeing something as such – and indeed – things like that do happen. Check out Blogstorm yesterday.
How do you think this will affect click through rates? Will it lower them for say, results seven to ten, but then raise them beyond that?
what about google adwords ads avg. position??
But , if Google will implement it, It will increase load time of SERP…… So i think it is not a good practice at all. Well, Thanks for sharing all your great and valuable information…….i like your blog and all e-books…. Thanks
