The internationals may be behind us, but we have now embarked on a brand new club team version of Our XBox Friday League. And, if that were not earth shattering enough, your humble blogger has other big news to report. 08 is history!. We are now playing on Fifa 09 for the X Box. Although it has to be said, some have found the adjustment a little easier than others.

The first thing to get straight though is, just ,who is paying as who this time. When we adopt club teams from all over Europe. They were picked out of a hat (allegedly). Although Lord only knows how Shaun ended up with Man United (!)

While, as for the others…

  • Michael plays as Inter MIlan.
  • Chris is Liverpool
  • Alan is Barcelona
  • Marty is Chelsea
  • Jim plays as Arsenal.
  • Jack* is Lyon
  • Rodger plays as Milan
  • Yours Truly (Robert) got Bayern Munich.

Originally, Scott and Simon were down to play in the league, but changed their minds and dropped out. (Damn it, the only two people I may have had a chance at beating).

As it turns out, my OK run with 08 became a memory with the next X Box. I found it hard to get used to the controls for 09. (That’s my story and I’m sticking to it) Which lead to a run of bad results which lead to the worst battering that Munich has gone through since the war.

Thankfully though, for the good of the league, some people still know how to play it. If you go by the table, Inter Milan (Michael) is in front, with a stunning eleven wins out of twelve. (Although they just suffered their first defeat. My heart bleeds). With Marty’s Chelsea second in the league (almost like real life). However, even they have lost a game, to Lyon. Leading Chelsea a possible contender for most ungracious loser since Terry Butcher. (Although they were much funnier).

To be fair though, Lyon has been a wonder at this league. With both Barcelona and Liverpool making excellent strides on the course of their campaign. Arsenal had a fine start and are now performing respectably well. Milan may have found it a little hard to get into their stride to begin with, but they seem to be finding their way.

Although, who would have thunk it,? That Man United would be almost scraping the bottle of the barrel of league positioning, (Ie.. almost down the table with me).

Although, Heaven forbid a comeback may still be on the cards. All in all though, this new league looks to be just as exciting as always. Keep you informed.

After a week arguing with each other we kick lumps out of each other on the X Box to let off steam and settle old scores and get ready for the next week. At any one time there’s usually 2 different guys on the X Box while the others finish off the weeks work.
