I was asked to beta-test DIYSEO, the new seo software solution from Patrick Gavin (who is well known in the industry) designed specifically for those small business operations new to seo, and with a tiny budget.
So I did.
I quite liked it (even though I sent Patrick a long email about how it might develop).
I think it’s a good V1 of software with potential which I expect to see develop into something with might be really useful to some small business owners out there who don’t have a clue about the BASICS of SEO and too lazy to learn it all.
www.diyseo.com is certainly no substitute for having an experienced SEO managing your organic seo campaign. It’s not meant to be a replacement either, but software like this, that has a nifty little update email system which reminds you what you need to do, might very well sit nicely with those who might not be as comfortable with, for instance, Aaron Wall’s more advanced seo training or the SEO Dojo, or from a more geeky book like our free seo ebook, up to the heavy duty ‘Art Of SEO’ book, for instance – and it’s no replacement either for powerful seo tools like Raven SEO Tools but I don’t think it’s meant to be.

It costs buttons to (effectively) organise some of the the paint-by-numbers aspects of SEO (page titles, local business registrations etc). Not much to lose. If you don’t like it you don’t need to buy it.
