TIP 42

Valid HTML and Accessibility

HTML is the 'language' that designers use to build websites. Valid HTML is code that validates to W3C guidelines, the organisation that develops good practices and standards for HTML.

Testing how your page looks in Internet Explorer is not sufficient.

"The foundation of accessible web design is valid HTML, as laid down by the W3C, which provides specific accessibility guidelines for designers. Producing good code takes time and expertise. Ensuring accessibility and usability without compromising creativity is also an effort. It’s best to plan and budget for accessibility from the outset."
