The Golden Age: Four Months of Pure Velocity
December 2025 to March 2026 was relentless. Creators vibe-coded entire tools in hours. Speed beat everything. Folks shipped MVPs daily. Others, like me, worked intensely for those months on one product before the global AI companies got their act together and coded in proper token usage meters to systems (that look like they come out of the developers’ hackathons, which they then spent 3 months retrofitting in the billing system).
I have worked 16-hour days nonstop since the first of February 2026 on one system – thisisagency.ai, under the impression that this level of access and subsidised access to AI was going away.
I think folk see the signs too.
But I saw the end coming. I wrote on April 9:
“Can confirm. You really do need a multi-model setup to switch between. Plus, they seem to have got a handle on charging folks more accurately, so I’ll say the Golden Age of Vibe Coding with this stuff is… almost at an end.” (see the tweet)
The Silver Era: Discipline, Taste, and thisisagency.ai
We’re now in the era of viable agentic systems. The vibe matured. High-level direction still rules, but systems finish reliably and cheaply.

I said it plainly.
“The only people safe in agencies are the creatives and specialists. The roles of the rest of middle management, and from the bottom up, are about to be vaporized. By my estimate that’s at least 50% of agencies staff in 6-12 months replaced by token arbitrage”. (source tweet)
My Silver Era Playbook
- Adopt an Agentic OS – Ditch one-off prompts. Manage reusable loops with planning, testing, and cost guardrails. Thisisagency.ai does exactly that.
- Develop expensive taste – Models are good enough. Your job is vision and direction.
- Master token arbitrage – Minimise waste. Kill bad paths fast.
- Kill darlings early – If it doesn’t compound, shut it down.

“You have one way of dealing with this. Get agentic pronto. Creatives need to be locally agentic. Specialists, web agentic. The first thing I did when I became locally agentic was build a web agentic framework for specialists.” (see the thread)

The new moat is disciplined, taste-guided agents.
The Vibe Grew Up
The vibe is still king. We direct with natural language and intuition. But now it’s executed at scale – reliably and profitably.
