Reverse Google Pagerank Algorithm

I got this nice message in my email:

John (REMOVED) here. I just wanted to drop you a line and invite you to be a link partner for our website. I’ve found your website with the “reverse google pagerank algorithm” which indicates that we both would get better google rankings, when we exchange links. I’ve already gone ahead and added your site hobo-web.co.uk to our link directory, could you please verify the description before it will go life at: [REMOVED]

Reverse Google Pagerank Algorithm? I’ve not heard about that one…. I’d love to see how that works. I am still interested in Google PR and I do try and keep my Google Pagerank Update page up to date – well, kind of.

Though, personally I wouldn’t ever get in any link scheme with someone I didn’t know, or trust, and who spammed my email. Even with a reverse google pagerank algorithm.  Google recommends this and this is one thing I agree with.

which indicates that we both would get better google rankings

Hmmm…. indeed.

YOU would certainly benefit, but I fail to see where I would. :( I have it on good advice its probably in my interested to be careful who I link to. You never know – I could inadvertently link to a website in a bad neighbourhood. I guess it’s all about trust these days.

The place you offer me to get a link isn’t even IN Google’s search results as far as I can make out, and for me, who does this sort of thing all day, I kind of like to get links off pages that feature in Google. Call me old fashioned.

I wonder how many people are searching for “reverse google pagerank algorithm”?

Meantime. Stop spamming my emails mate. I have my own spamming to get done.

Hi Shaun, I’ve this same doughnut give me the very same invite. At first I was flattered…….well ok for like a 1/16th of a second! My fav humourous moments are the supposedly genuine but so obviously fake spammers in forums, that you just have to laugh about because so many people end up trying to have serious meaningful conversations with them…..duh! Anyway, I just had a guy ring me up who I spoke to about a year ago about doing him a website. He said he was having a problem with the guy who he ended up using and wanted some advice! You’ve gotta laugh! But hey, being the decent guy I am I said sure, what’s the problem. Basically, this guy had offered to build him a content management website, design a logo, write the content, optimize the site and then do ongoing SEO for him. All for the princely sum of £500 smackers! Oh and all to be delivered within 4-6 weeks. Suffice to say, he’s not delivered and shows no sign of doing so either. Yet another client fooled by a pretty looking website and a guy who can spin a yarn and dangle a tasty carrot. (by the way, the guy’s name is actually Guy, funny huh!). Anyway, great blog, keep em coming. PS. I’ve been using SEO Powersuite for a couple of years now. It’s all pretty good, except for the link assistant module which is pretty pants and largely useless for link building these days.

Yeah I like rank tracker but link assistant – I didn’t really see the point.

Does anyone actually fall for these things? I get these requests all the time, and ask myself “what is in it for me? Why would I want to do this?”

    • Shaun Anderson says:

Plenty of folk, or the email wouldn’t be circulating for all these years….

Heh, This is great! At first I thought you were outting a major link builder, but this post is just good clean fun. My favorite SEO Spam is when someone contacts me through one of my niche websites and promises to give me better rankings… Only, my site is already plastered all over the top of it’s niche. I’m always half curious to reply to the spammers to see what they try to sell me.

I have got quite a few mails with the term “reverse google pagerank algorithm”. I have also got a mails offering a directory link in exchange for a link from my site. And finally I got several mails purportedly representing the same websites with the same content except the names and email ids.

Shaun, I am pretty sure you are talking about John Stahl and the software called XAIDER, right? If he is the one, this spammer is known at least since 2007.
