Top 10 Search Engines in 2009 For This UK Blog

(K9) It’s the time of the year to look back and share on some performance related things on the Hobo blog. Last year I quickly posted about the top ten search engines sending us traffic in 2008.

Here’s the top 10 search engines that sent Hobo unpaid (organic) traffic in 2009 (from 10 Dec 2008 to 10 Dec 2009)

Search sent 478,606 non-paid visits via 22 search engines in 2009:

Visits
Time on Site
google 455,523
00:01:16
yahoo 7,879
00:01:24
bing 3,414
00:01:12
aol 3,393
00:00:59
search 2,912
00:01:08
ask 2,469
00:00:55
msn 1,354
00:01:05
live 1,342
00:01:19
yandex 127
00:00:23
altavista 62
00:00:56

Google still by far and away the best free traffic provider but not surprising as I write mainly about Google SEO.

We nearly got a half a million free visitors from Google which is up from 229,281 visits, so almost exactly 100% more traffic from Google than last year.

All traffic sources sent 632,329 visits via 3,185 sources (up about 80% on 2008) – we didn’t pay for any of our traffic and i don’t do much social media pimping at all for Hobo any more – Twitter is the 8th largest traffic provider to the site).

Note – According to Google Analytics.

Shaun, Excellent work for the year. You say you dont use the Twitters of the world any more but they still give you the 7th most traffic. Is that coming from people like me tweeting this post and a mate of mine reading it or is there something else? I am not a Twitter. I started once and with the amount of people writing that they were going to get a tea and feed the cat.. then saying they were back it all scrolled off the screen and I lost interest. took about 2 days! Matthew I do use Twitter, just not all day long. Generally speaking, it’s mates pimping my content for me, and I do likewise. :)

    Fair enough :)
