Tip – How To Check Google Rankings In Other Countries
The Ad Preview tool from Google also shows organic search results and how they look to users around the world. You can see just how rankings differ from country to country and place to place – worth considering when researching keywords. Geolocation and personalisation really mixes Google rankings up too.

I forgot all about this tool until I recently saw it mentioned by AlyssaS on Webmasterworld I thought it might be useful for some.
*Hat tip to Paul at WF franchise opportunities for the question which gave me an idea for an easy post

I’ve been getting similar results recently by just going to google.fr, google.de etc. Don’t tell the boss through, I’m trying to get some EU trips!!
For a quick check you can usually add (or change) “&gl=uk” (where UK represents the country code, so change to fr/us etc.) in the URL after performing a search.
Good to have a more “official” way of checking though
You can also just append &gl=(country code) onto the url, so &gl=uk, &gl=us and &gl=fr shows you the results from the UK, US and France respectivley. Saves a little bit of time.
Hey Shaun,
Thank you for the link to the preview tool. When I got your email and saw the title I was a little perplexed. I said to myself, “what do I need to know this for?” I came on over to your site and there it was, just two short sentences explaining why I needed to know about Google rankings in other countries. You guys do great work, keep it up.
Thank you and God bless.
I just started using an extension that works in Firefox and Chrome called “Google Global” – check it out at http://www.redflymarketing.com/internet-marketing-tools/google-global/
It’s been pretty useful for me so far, give it a try.
