X-Box Friday - The Pro Evolution Soccer League
Blurb by ShaunWeeks 1 & 2 Results
Fridays in between seo and web design responsibilities we have X-Box Friday. We have a league going and some of the boys in the office have a team. Here’s the results after the first couple of weeks.
I’m Argentina and frankly I was f*&^%$£ robbed today after being unbeaten although I had a lot of calls today so wasn’t concentrating on my game. A couple of the less fancied teams managed to take a point against me while I considered long term business strategy for the company, but I did manage to beat France making me the only one to do it but got shafted 2-0 by Professional Gamer Marty. Never seen anybody ride his luck like that before!
- Goal Of The Day - Marty (nearly Robert but an overhead kick gotta have it)
- Game Of The Day - Argentina V Italy (Italy fluked it as they always do) - This will be highly contentious as nobody gets to watch all the matches, so every body will think theirs is the best.
- Player Of The Week -Shaun - Again contentious however used the latest scientific analysis to determine this and it was me.
- Most Improved - Robert
- Best Moan - Michael
- Best Impression Of A Young Girl Crying - Michael
- Best Pull Together After Crying Like A Young Girl - Michael
- Most Cynical Fouling - Shaun
All in all I am quite happy with the way it is shaping up and think most would agree I’m the favourite to take the top prize (which if we don’t organise will be an afternoon cleaning Michael’s Audi).
I propose a day off for the winner! (They can take Xmas off this year at the Hobo Search Engine Optimisation Sweat Shop)
Winning isn’t everything of course, but you can see from the table below it’s clearly separating out into two groups - winners & losers.

As I said to Michael in private “let the boys win a couple” to keep spirits in the office high…. although I thought I could see a tear of frustration in Michael’s eye at getting horsed of Robert which is the best laugh I have had all week.
I am not the sort of guy to rub things in and encourage nothing but a sense of achievement and empowerment in the Hobo team but Jimbo is currently being stuffed like a Christmas turkey. It’s almost bringing a tear to my eye the brutality of it all.
Alan’s at the top of the league this month, but I was breezing past him as if he wasn’t there so i don’t expect him to keep up the pace over the piece.
I predict Robert to rise above his current place and move Rodger into bed with Jimbo at the bottom. Argentina to win, with Italy, France and then Michael’s under-performing Spain.
Hmmmm….. what should the loser do? I could make them read my seo tutorial from start to finish and ask them questions on it?
Sod that if they don’t know that they are getting their P45s - what do you think Mick?
Add - I think I have finally come up with a way to compel the boys onto this blog - no way will they let me write this up again).

yup.. Italy 2 - Argentina 0
got to be the best game by me so far, Alan was just lucky to sneak in a 85th min goal to
take the score to 1-1 and 1 point each…
so good to see not only Michaels impression Of A Young Girl Crying but the
look on Shaun’s face as my overhead kick screamed its way into the back of the net…
then scoring another just to finish him off….
the joy of whooping him after weeks of being beating by Brazil is just so sweet..
even thought its my xbox, Pro evo 2008 is one of those titles I just dont play at home,
I find the CPU opponent is just to hard to play against but i suppose doing that has given me
the amazing skills i needed to take these guys and show them who the gaming master is.
also reading up on how to play the game dose help…

I could not agree more. I would say that it was an accurate and fair descrption of events. Especially when it came to how brilliant Robert was.

After reading this utter rubbish that Shaun has written, I do feel that I have to defend myself. I had 1 bad game where I was pressing the wrong button to shoot for 75 mins but I still drew (Don’t play this enough). I then tore Argentina (Shaun) apart play wise and the only way he could stop me was to foul me when I was clean through thus him finishing with 9 men!
Don’t believe the guff that Martin has written either! He was up at 4:30 in the morning practising and that was after reading all the tutorials - sad git!
The results that happened on Friday mean that the league is wide open and Spain will triumph in the end.
Finally, as Shaun has suggested, I think that is the last time we will be letting him write up the progress as I don’t think there was one truth in that article. As you will know he doesn’t suffer from a lack of confidence even when it is not justified as with most, if not all computer games or any monetary bet (he always loses!) Next week I might write it up

Once again i do believe i have to come in and restore some reality here!
Must i remind everyone that we are still only the first round of matches!
Very early days chaps and everyone has lost at least once, meaning everyone can be bet, thinking some of us are getting a bit ahead of themselves…;)
We’ll see what Friday brings, especially that now im going to read the tutorials and actually work out how to play this game
Come on the mighty Dutch!!
