‘What’s The Best?’ - Web Design & SEO
Blurb by ShaunThe irony of obsessively searching for what’s the best way to do something often leads to the same conclusion;
- What Is the best SEO Tactic for websites?
There is none. - What’s the best font size to use designing websites?
There is none - What is the best cms?
There isn’t one - What is the best colour combination for websites?
There isn’t one - What is the best screen resolution for designing websites?
There isn’t one - What is the best way to structure websites?
There is none. - What is the best way to seo page titles?
There isn’t one - What is the best keyword density for websites?
There isn’t one - What is the best font for websites?
There isn’t one
Each site has it’s own target audience and needs it’s own optimization (edit - to suit).
I wonder how many more conclusions there are for me….

There is always a best - it just may be different to different people, and different for every web site. A part of the process is learning who your audience is. If I’m targeting retirees, the best font size is going to be a lot larger then the best font size for a site targeting teens. This site appears to be SEO related, so targeting for keywords (like “best SEO tactic”, “best font size”, “best cms”, etc.) is right up your alley, it is the same as targeting for a particular audience.

Hey Shaun,
The simplicity of this post easily highlights that although there may be a “Best way” of achieving a goal for one person, it may not be the “Best way” for another.
The Beauty of this is that it need not only apply to Web Design and SEO….

There is surely no “best way”, but well, if you have a site, you want to make it popular, don’t you? Otherwise I think one should try all of the opportunities, not because there is a best or something, but to gather experience.

I’m not so sure about…
What is the best way to structure websites?
Most people would agree that structure and content should be kept separate.
So table-less css layouts, would be the answer to that one.

Good point. I would say in general there is a “standard” however and that there is a majority of a certain screen resolution, internet browser etc.

Absolutely. Google is great for giving you information but you need experience to make the right choice, and the right choice depends on the circumstances.
There are right ways, but they’re not always right from every cirumstance!
