SEO Company ‘Clueless Numpties’ according to….Google!
Blurb by Shaun AndersonNow anybody with a sense of humour will find this funny. Recently (after a bit of fun me and Tim Nash had with a hapless link-spammer) I highlighted a story I found funny, about outing an ‘apparently’ ‘numpty-like’ seo company. As a result of this, here’s the SERP for ‘clueless numpties‘ in Google;

Google Bomb you say? No, not really, I think it’s more to do with Google using anchor text (clueless numpties, in this case) in inbound links to determine what that particular URL is about because the experts at WebsearchPR.com seem to think, as a search engine optimisation company, it’s cool to block the search engines from their site LOL using, wait for it;
meta name="robots" content="noindex,nofollow"
…which of course leaves Googlebot relying on the anchor text links on other sites to give itself an idea of what that URL is actually about.

It would appear the numpties are using someone else’s client testimonials: http://web.archive.org/web/20040604210038/http://www.hits4peanuts.net/index.html (from June 4, 2004)

Oh and I almost forgot to mention that *********** is also hosted on the same server as ********* - one of the ’satisfied’ customers but I’m sure that’s just a coincidence, right? In the same way that the vast majority of the inbound links all come from the same IP address….

Ha Ha thought you might have liked that Mike.
PS For legal reasons I will go with a coincidence

I swear you Nash and few of us should create an SEO hit team and clean up on some scrapers and clowns in the industry. It’s either us, or their own ignorance that will take them out right? So think of it like this, your protecting the hapless consumers from their outdated and flimsy SEO tactics from 1999 and cleaning up the index a bit for Google. Matt Cutts will love us and we can don a new logo and wear capes to boot. LOL…

This is a strange coincidence, I got an email today from a company listed on that screenshot of your claiming to “be the best” at seo and promising all these wounder full seo treats.
So I checked the “clueless numpties” in Google UK and they are second on the list lol

@ Todd Yeah well I didn’t want to link to them and actually make the situation worse for them and actually this is why I sphunn the story to make sure the company name wasn’t used in the SM scene (changes the article name too)
@ SDS i don’t have any plans to clean up the web I (and probably everybody else) have too many areas I need to improve upon before I go criticizing others. Although I will out clueless numpties and ninja spammers in a heartbeat and enjoy it.
Actually I thought I was helping that company out!

@ Matt LOL It’s time for them to revise that strategy I think…

I got a email from WebsearchPR.com claiming they could help me with my SEO. I hate junk mail.

I just got someone congratulating me on ranking for seo consultant, then offering me seo services. They’ve outdone themselves this time. And the best part? I have no such rankings :). lol. (I do have, or did anyways, a top 10 spot on seo specialist, but no traffic from it anyways so wtv.)

Sadly, having the desire to do something and having the skills to do something do not always go hand in hand.

Oh dearie me… Seems like WebsearchPR are giving Brighton’s SEOs a bad name.
We got a phone call the other day asking if we are related to these guys, as they operate out of a serviced office block we used to work in. That’s an emphatic NO!
What really sucks is that, to someone with little knowledge of SEO and the web, it can be hard to tell which SEOs are genuine and which belong to the “snake oil” school of thought.
