This ones a good one – Advanced Web RankingsCLICK HERE for more info

The problem with this type of rankings check is how much time it consumes in the studio. The problem with a lot of automatic website rank checkers of course is that they could well be software packages that violate Google webmaster guidelines for instance.

I’ve been testing out the rank check tool AWR Website Ranking on a small personal site (after being advised it does not break Google’s guidelines) (more…)

In case you haven’t noticed, Google has been playing about with it’s logo in a way that’s proving mysterious. Normally Google changes it’s logo (called Google Doodles) to mark an important date in history like a famous person’s birth like the Charles Darwin Google logo, or to commemorate a momentous moment in history, a special day or special event like the first man on the moon or 09/09/09. Edward Lewis AKA pageoneresults decided to test seo companies’ websites and call out those seo whose websites failed validation after reading Aaron Wall’s article about, essentially I thought, companies who touted validation as a necessary SEO service. (more…)

Confusing Navigation
I’m intending to take part in Google Webmaster Forum a bit more but I chipped in an answer the other day about how many links in a dropdown are best:

The question was:

Building a new site with over 5000 product pages. Trying to get visitors to a product page directly from the homepage. Would prefer to use a two-level drop-down on homepage containing 10 brands and 5K products, but I’m worried a huge source code will kick me in the pants. Also, I have no idea how search engines treat javascript links that can be read in HTML. Nervous about looking like a link farm.

Ulitzer.com (and sub domains) seems to have gone the way of the dodo in search engine Google. I can’t find any of the site in Google, and it’s a Toolbar PR of 0 (Toolbar Grey). (more…)
