We've recently updated our comments policy and increased the number of comments a visitor has to make to get seo friendly links in comment signatures to reward long term readers and make it a bit harder for dofollow spammers ;) - I told you dofollow spamming wasn't a long term strategy....

Note – the reason I am posting this is I have some seo stuff I am going to publish shortly (including some seo analysis I dont think I see out there) which falls under seo theory so I thought I may as well get this out of the way before somebody pipes in later lol.

There’s many problems with seo theory blogs. Misinformation is an obvious one. Rarely are your results conclusive or observations 100% accurate. Even if you think a theory holds water on some level.

It’s annoying when you post an article using Google’s feedburner and 2 seconds later somebody is telling you your auto tweet has a ‘broken link in the tweet.

The tweet, generated by Google Feedburner, using Google’s URL shortener on publishing a new post, doesn’t have a broken link… it just takes Google a few seconds to get the cogs working…. (more…)

It’s annoying – even frightening when it happens for the first time – when, for no apparent reason, one day, you notice you’ve apparently lost half of your feedreader subscribers overnight – and then find out it’s just a glitch or problems at Feedburners end.

Many bloggers like myself show off the number of folk subscribed to their feed (knowing it helps increase subscribers even more, if you have a decent rss count already). (more…)

Hey Google where’s the UK local business listing for ‘seo company Glasgow’, or ‘seo company London’? I see you got Manchester SEO companies in Google local but I can’t bring up a Maps result for:

• seo company Glasgow
• seo company London
• seo company Edinburgh
• seo company Birmingham
• seo company Liverpool
• etc, etc

I see Manchester SEO companies have nothing to complain about….

Well it looks as if SEO companies are back in Google Local results, but for some reason, when, looking for a SEO Company searching from Greenock (near Glasgow, in Scotland) Google gives us seo companies based out of Manchester. (more…)

Hey thanks to those who voted at 100 Most Influential Online Marketers of 2009 – number 60 is better than we expected to the say the least.

I actually voted for Aaron Wall (Seo Book) (who did a neat keyword research guide on our blog a short time ago) and who came No1.

There’s plenty of folk celebrating inclusion, and plenty bemoaning exclusion from the list (which was bound to be controversial or what would be the point of making the list?) but we’ve got a badge, for now, so up it goes…..
