Adding rel=”nofollow” to a link effectively stops a link being a link, as far as Google is concerned. This means the link does not count as a vote, does not pass page rank, nor topical relevance(!). For instance, most blog comments are nofollow links, unlike this blog;

We've recently updated our comments policy and increased the number of comments a visitor has to make to get seo friendly links in comment signatures to reward long term readers and make it a bit harder for dofollow spammers ;) - I told you dofollow spamming wasn't a long term strategy....

I’ve been wanting to ask those that read our blog to introduce themselves and tell me what you think of the site.
As of today I am going to be a lot more careful how I link to people. It’s a pet hate when you see somebody talking about you on a blog and not linking to you properly, or at all, just ask linkbait coach and pal Lyndon Antcliff.
