It seems Google have penalised themselves, publicly. Google Japan was caught buying links on a blogger review network. Oops. Kind of embarrassing because buying reviews on networks like these are well against Google terms and conditions.

We've recently updated our comments policy and increased the number of comments a visitor has to make to get seo friendly links in comment signatures to reward long term readers and make it a bit harder for dofollow spammers ;) - I told you dofollow spamming wasn't a long term strategy....

Although I don’t use Twitter all that much (as a tweeter, that is – I am always peeking into other conversations), it’s starting to do my head in. That’s not to say it’s not a great tool for networking and keeping up on industry buzz. It is – it’s the best thing of it’s kind I have ever seen. We are about to begin a new season of our X Box Friday League. That is since Jacks Lyon ended up at the top of the table last time. Congrats to him, but that is all behind us now. Lets move on.

We are setting off on a new frontier of our Fifa 09 club competition. A world away from last time.

That is because, for this season, we are adopting teams from the lower divisions. In a league that will make The Blue Square Premiership look like The UEFA Champions League.

Of course you know when you are at the top of the SERPS for particular keywords, particularly how to tutorials, you start picking up organic links from forums and blogs who see these articles as trusted articles because, well, they are at the top of Google. (more…)

I was in the forums recently and a thread contained a lot of posters chiming in with ‘organic links are best’ and ‘get natural links’ for best results. Even though I am a content creator first, linkbuilder second, I think this is quite misleading.

While I appreciate the value of organic links, and encourage clients to get them, freely given links just aren’t best for getting a page to rank for particular keyword phrases and never have been. (more…)
