After a busy pre-season the new season is eventually upon us.

This time round, obviously through the recent sponsership deals and TV money, the league has expanded to 12 Teams. Once again the teams were drawn fairly out of a hat and here is a run down of who’s who

  • Holland - Chris
  • Germany - Robert
  • Italy - Marty
  • Portugal - Simon
  • Argentina - Shaun
  • Spain - Stephen
  • Croatia - Michael
  • Brazil - Alan
  • Turkey - Jack
  • England - Jim
  • France - Scott
  • Russia - ME (a bit unlucky there i feel)

As you can see, some people will be more happy with their picks than others. Alan being the happiest, giving the fact that his 2nd cousin is representing the gold of Brazil

Al\'s Brazilian Family Tree

Due to the increased number of teams entered this season the rules have changed slightly. Games will be played over 5mins instead of the traditional 10 mins and each team will play each other 4 times.

With the games being cut down to 5 mins we have seen a lot of draws in the opening fixtures. Though the team that you can never count out - The Germans(Robert) have shown great form and early on find themselves at the top of the league after 6 games played.

A complete contrast have been the new boys Scott and Simon. SImon has shown some nice touches but all that dancing about like a fairy has not put the points on the table. As for Scott, the commitment has been there (having had two players sent off :)) so there is potential that he will get to grips with over the coming games though he did start with a midfielder as his goalkeeper when he was playing me :)

As for the reigning champ, he has been quieter than usual finding the 5 min games tough though he might be starting to show the form from last season with his recent win over Croatia.

Another team proving a stern test has been England(Jim), rock solid at the back and dangerous on attack.

The most disappointed manager has to be Al, his samba stars (especially cousin Ron) have let him down so far :(

And for my Russian mestro’s we are on a 3 game game winning streak ;)

Finally, the most important point, is that Shaun is at the bottom of the table. I know he has not played any games yet but got a feeling that he will not be moving far from there ;)

  1. Goal Of The Day - Holland vs Italy (Robben)
  2. Game Of The Day - Holland 0 Russia 3
  3. Player Of The Week - Well done Roberto
  4. Most Improved - Jim
  5. Best Moan - Possible me for 5 mins after discovering i had picked Russia
  6. Best Impression Of A Young Girl Crying - Al after losing in the last minute to Micheal
  7. Best Pull Together After Crying Like A Young Girl - Me :)
  8. Most Cynical Fouling - Scott for giving away a penalty in the first 2 minsHere is the table, aiming to be top next week :)
