WK 3 Results

I know you have all been anxiously waiting for the update on how our internal pro evo league on the X-Box 360 was going so here it is… today will decide things :) Here’s how things stand….

Even after publishing the, how shall we say, garbage article that Shaun wrote last week he was very keen to complete the write up again. He was obviously outvoted 6-1 by the rest of the team.

It was quite an exciting week with the lucky leaders from last week getting brought back to normality and having their confidence shattered! The most noticeable of which were France who after such a brilliant first week were crushed by the mighty Spain 0-3 and by the sneaky Italians! A couple of draws also put paid to their success and it now looks like they have blown their chance.

Spain were the main team this week with 3 wins and a draw and now find themselves back in the mix. All of Martin’s nightly practice and bedtime tip reading paid off now that he knows all of the special moves etc. and turned that into points.

It looks like it is now between Spain, Italy & Argentina but France might still get there.

  1. Goal Of The Day - Jim (he got Germany’s first goal of the campaign)
  2. Game Of The Day - Italy V France - All of the pressure was on Italy as if France won this then the title was as good as theirs but this keeps the league alive (well done marty! ;)
  3. Player Of The Week -Michael - Has to be! After looking well off the pace, Spain are now fighting for the title
  4. Most Improved - Robert
  5. Best Moan - Joint Title - Shaun (After Rodger equalised in the last few minutes of the game - although in fairness he was pummelling Shaun) / Michael (After the penalty incident that we will not mention)
  6. Best Impression Of A Young Girl Crying - Shaun (As Above)
  7. Best Pull Together After Crying Like A Young Girl - Rodger (after realising what button was ’shoot’)
  8. Most Cynical Fouling -N/a

As you can see from the league below it has turned into quite a tight affair with any one from four able to take the first title.

Looking at the table above you can clearly see that all of the rash statements caused by severe over-confidence from Shaun failed to materialise as usual and he is slipping down the table as I predicted. He doesn’t play the usual creative football that you associate with Argentina and can barely score a goal. Brazil have turned into the masters of the draw and Germany were able to put both their first goal and first point onto the board. Holland are hardly worth mentioning!

As Shaun did last week I am going to have a shot at the predictions for the league. Spain to beat Italy to the title by a whisker, followed by France and then Argentina. Holland will then reclaim 5th place followed by Brazil and Germany who will be awarded the wooden spoon.

I am ignoring the comments from Shaun re: the day off for the winner as I thought playing the X-Box 360 on a Friday was reward enough! I do quite like the idea of the loser cleaning my car - I will even bring in the cloth and bucket for you next week Jim ;)

We were originally going to play each other 4 times for the season however as we have now got more people into the office, we are going to award the first title after 2 rounds of games so that the other guys can join in.

Final league results perhaps by the end of the day, work permitting.
