10 Reasons Your New Website Won’t Launch Today
Posted by ShaunDesigning and launching a website can be a pain, even when managed correctly.
Here’s 10 reasons your site won’t be launched today…..
- The changes you sent to the design brief on Wednesday
- The 150 images you sent to us yesterday
- The text you sent to us Tuesday…. in the post….. er, on paper
- This is the first time your boss has seen it?
- You never told us all your organisation used IE4
- Yes, as we mentioned, 1024×768 won’t fit on your bosses smaller screen
- What do you mean your logo is changing
- So you’ve actually not got any content ready for sections 3,4,5,6 and 7?
- Ah….. so you want sections 3,4,5 and 7 removed from the navigation….
- The guy who controls your domain is leaving early today?
The list could go on…… good communication is paramount when developing any website. It’s a learning process, and you hopefully can only get better at it with time and experience.
I’m going to lay down in my next post what things a web designer should make clear to their client and get agreements on when developing any website.

11. Did you seriously just ask me to supply you with my full £1600 license of Adobe Creative Suite CS3 to allow you to update (wreck) the website yourself?

What about when management decide they want to change everything to a different shade of pink? Or move the whole design to the right by half a pixel?
Seriously, everyone likes to contribute to a web design these days. Imagine a car designer being pestered by someone in accounting about the shape of the alloy wheels… Oh well.

hahaha vanman youre funny. ..had a little delve into the world of the web designer a few months back and cant deal with any of it. wouldnt do that job for the world.
with just their seo they don’t see or even know what youre doing, mostly you can just get on with it without constant interference.

How can you say the client changes the goalposts at the last minute? Do you not know the customer is king?

Reason: You know, I was talking to a friend who read a marketing book and he thinks your approach is all wrong.
Reason: Remind me again why we need sections 4, 5, and 6?
Reason: We felt pressured when we agreed to sections 4 and 5. Tell us again why we need the content you prepared for section 6.
Reason: Not a good fit? You can’t leave us in the lurch. If we go with that other company you are recommending we’d lose control of the project!

Communication is definitely the key LOL, and a suggestion as this sounds like a day in the life of most internet marketers - try to set your deadline a couple of days before your sites actual launch - be prepared for the worst case scenario so that if anythings crops up you have the time to sort it out.
