Which Is Best? Bloglines or Google Feed Reader For RSS
Which is best? Bloglines or Google Reader? Do you have a preference?
I personally use Google reader, although I am subscribed to only a very few blogs at the moment. From my Feedburner stats I see most people access the RSS feeds for this site using the free RSS reader from Google.
I’ve got everybody in the office to get themselves a RSS reader and get organised, but I actually don’t know if there actually is a ‘best’.
I have not even tried Bloglines properly. Am I missing a trick?
Which RSS Reader should I use, which do you use?
Most of the readers of this blog actually subscribe through Google Reader, and the number has steadily grown in the last 12 months.

Bloglines for me, I gave GReader a try about a year ago. I foud it slower, more complex and It gave me a worst overall view of all my feeds. Of course, GReader looks a lot cooler than Bloglines, but I guess thats not what your looking for.
Maybe I was used to Bloglines interface already, dont know. Anyway I wont jump to a Google product if its not good enough, that should slow up Googles “Microsofization”.
I used Bloglines a few years ago and switched to Google Reader. At the time I was having problems with Bloglines. It’s been awhile so my memory isn’t the best. I think my biggest beef was with a long time between blog updates and the feed update.
Things may have improved since then but I really appreciate Google Reader. I have way too many feeds and GR helps me manage them very well. Then again I’m a big fan of Google apps. They’re not perfect but they’re good enough to help me get things done.
When it comes to RSS feed, the online readers like Bloglines and Google Reader are better than desktop clients. I have three computers – work, home and laptop. With an online service I don’t have to take the extra steps to sync feeds among computers. Plus I prefer to use my browser instead of a new app.
Thanks for the comments guys. Carl, I think my thinking is similar to yours at the moment. I know its kind of hard to say which is the best rss reader as in the end it is to do with individual preferences, but its excellent to hear your opinions.
Bloglines is best for me……
I use Google Reader
I use NewsFox which is a Firefox extension. I used Google reader for a while. It mostly worked well with a few exceptions where read items were marked unreed after feed updates. The reason for not using Google reader and some other Google services any longer was to provide less usage data to Google.
The latest version of Lotus Notes has a great sidebar for RSS feeds. http://www.alanlepofsky.net/alepofsky/alanblog.nsf/dx/lotus-notes-8-sidebar-part-1
