Bloggers Unite – 20 Reasons China Is Not Olympian
When China made its bid for the 2008 Olympics, government authorities promised improvements in human rights. Seven years on, China remains a country that executes, tortures and silences its citizens. Amnesty International on Human Rights In China.

Tortured….. Get It?
Should a company that ignores Human Rights be hosting, of all things, The 2008 Olympic Games? Does China, a country of magnificent history, represent Olympism in 2008?
Olympism
“Olympism is a philosophy of life, exalting and combining in a balanced whole the qualities of body, will and mind. Blending sport with culture and education, Olympism seeks to create a way of life based on the joy found in effort, the educational value of good example and respect for universal fundamental ethical principles.”
Amnesty International doesn’t think so, and neither do I. These games will apparently come and go without little change in China (by that I mean the government) towards it’s own citizens. Help Amnesty International in their aims to make change.

In retrospect it’s probably always a mistake to give a reward for the promise of future improvements in behavior.
Although in light of our recent incorrigible acts it seems that we (the U.S.) should get our own affairs in order before calling foul on anyone else.
Torture is a blight upon all of our humanity.
Thanks David, yeah I think Guantamino is on Amnesty’s minds too!
Thanks for this article.
These violations of human rights are never mentioned too much.
